Below you can find answers to most of the common questions we get. We will be adding more sections and information to this page as we announce more information about the event. WHAT IS DREAMHACK AUSTIN?
DreamHack is a gaming event unlike any other! DreamHack events are all about the massive BYOC (Bring Your Own Computer) LAN party, paired with a plethora of competitive tournaments and international esports competitions happening. Visitors are able to check out the latest gaming and tech gear at the DreamExpo, and take part in all sorts of different activities! WHERE IS DREAMHACK AUSTIN?
The venue for DreamHack Austin 2017 is the Austin Convention Center located at:
500 E Cesar Chavez St, Austin, TX 78701.
Friday: 10AM – Midnight
Saturday: 10AM – Midnight
Sunday: 10AM – 6PM
BYOC Attendee computer dropoff: 9AM Friday
Note: The event is open 24 hours a day for BYOC visitors (Yes, the LAN goes overnight! 42 hours of LAN gaming)
WILL MY BADGE BE SHIPPED TO ME? WHAT ABOUT WILL CALL?
Visitor passes will all be available by will call at the event. You will need to have your Eventbrite email with ticket barcode, use the Eventbrite app, or print out your ticket confirmation barcode.
If you purchased a BYOC pass before March 30th you will receive it by mail before the event. If you purchased it later you will need to pick up your pass at will call by the same method mentioned above.
WAIT, THERE’S NO LYFT OR UBER IN AUSTIN? HOW DO I GET AROUND?
Fear not! Ride Austin has filled the void of rideshare companies in the Austin area. We recommend downloading their app and getting rides with them if you need it.
ARE THERE ANY AGE RESTRICTIONS?
Everyone is welcome at DreamHack Austin! Those below 18 will require their parent or legal guardian to sign a waiver. The waiver can be found here. Those age 13 and below must be accompanied at all times by their parent or legal guardian.
IS THERE ANY MERCHANDISE AVAILABLE?
Yes! The official DreamHack Store will be on-site and your place to purchase exclusive DreamHack clothing and gear and some limited items that is only available onsite at DreamHack events.
WILL THERE BE LAN SEATS?
Of course! Following the big demand of DreamHack Austin 2016 we have now expanded the LAN Area.
IS THERE A SLEEPING AREA LIKE DREAMHACK SUMMER AND WINTER?
Unfortunately, we cannot offer a sleeping area at DreamHack Austin. You cannot sleep at your LAN seat or anywhere else inside the convention center.
CAN I VAPE INSIDE THE VENUE?
Absolutely not. The use of e-cigarettes, vaporizers, and anything else like them are all subject to the same laws as smoking. Do it outside and away from the doors and groups of people. No sick clouds up in this LAN, bruh.
NEED SPECIAL ACCOMMODATIONS?
Please see one of our Crew at the Info Desk near the entrance to obtain a medical pass for any special needs. If your needs do not have a easily verifiable component (like obvious physical impairment, wheelchair or other device) we will need a doctor’s note to grant a medical pass.

WHERE DO I BUY TICKETS?

WHAT KIND OF TICKET SHOULD I BUY?
Please consult our ticket info page to see the different types of tickets offered for DreamHack Austin.
CAN I BUY TICKETS ON LOCATION?
Event passes will be available for purchase at the event for day visitors if they are not sold out online. We recommend purchasing tickets as soon as they are released 21st of September to both take advantage of the early bird ticket prices and guarantee your ticket in case we reach capacity on the venue. I WANT TO COMPETE, WHAT KIND OF TICKET SHOULD I GET?
All ticket holders to the DreamHack Austin event are eligible to participate in tournaments. (BYOC passes will also allow you to play in any BYOC tournaments. A BYOC seat and your own hardware are required for BYOC tournaments). You can find a full list of BYOC tournaments we are offering on our BYOC Tournaments page.

WHAT PAYMENTS METHODS TO YOU OFFER?
We offer payment by VISA, MASTERCARD, AMERICAN EXPRESS & DISCOVERY.
WHEN DOES SEAT BOOKING OPEN?
Seat booking will open up for regular pass holders in early March, before the show. Premium founder pass holders will early access to the seat booking system. Make sure to select your seat quickly to be able to guarantee sitting with your friends!
HOW DOES THE SEATBOOKING WORK?
You will receive a link to our seat booking website via e-mail a few weeks before the seat booking opens.
The link will include a special code that you use to book your seat/s. If you have bought multiple tickets you will be able to reserve seats for them all. You can change your seat on the seat map until 2 weeks before the event. Make sure to reserve them asap to guarantee the seat you want!
DO YOU OFFER REFUNDS ON TICKETS?
Unfortunately, we cannot offer refunds on tickets. Please be sure you’re able to attend if you buy one! If something changes, you may resell your ticket to someone else.

BYOC LAN AND TOURNAMENTS
WHAT DOES DREAMHACK PROVIDE FOR THE LAN PARTY? WHAT DO I NEED TO BRING?
For every BYOC ticket you purchase you will be provided with one table seat and a simple chair paired with it. You will be provided one electrical socket and one internet port. You will need to provide an internet cable (we recommend a minimum of 30ft to be safe) and a power strip to be able to plug in both computer tower and monitor. If you forget these, they will be purchasable at the DreamHack Store.
IS IT SAFE TO BRING MY PC? DO I NEED TO WORRY ABOUT THEFT?
It is absolutely safe to bring your PC to our event. We will have our Crew security staff on-site during the whole event. If you are concerned about security you may always bring a computer lock to secure your tower or laptop and peripherals to the table. We do not recommend leaving valuables like cell phones & wallets at your LAN seat as those are much easier to walk away with. DreamHack is not responsible for any lost possessions.
HOW BIG OF A MONITOR CAN I BRING?
The maximum monitor size allowed in the LAN is 30″
CAN I BRING IN OUTSIDE FOOD TO MY LAN SEAT?
Outside food and drink are not permitted per venue rules. There are plenty of concessions available within the show and around the convention center. Coolers, lunch boxes/bags, etc. will be turned away at the door.
HOW MUCH BANDWIDTH / HOW FAST WILL THE LAN NETWORK BE?
We can’t go into specifics, but it will be more than fast enough for you. Trust us, we’ve been doing this for a while 🙂
WHAT BYOC LAN TOURNAMENTS ARE BEING OFFERED?
At DreamHack Austin, we will be hosting tournaments in the following games: Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, Hearthstone, Heroes of the Storm, League of Legends, Overwatch, Rocket League, Starcraft 2, and World of Tanks.
HOW DO I REGISTER FOR THE BYOC TOURNAMENTS?
Tournament registration is conducted through either Battlefy or Smash.gg. You can find links to registration information for the BYOC tournaments here.
CAN I HOST A COMMUNITY TOURNAMENT AT DREAMHACK AUSTIN?
Community tournaments with no prizing or money involved are ok, and encouraged. However, you cannot organize a tournament that awards prizes or prizemoney.
